The footbed is cork, firm at first and then slowly shaped by your own weight until it holds your arch and heel. The straps rest on top without pinching, and the sandal keeps its shape through long summer days. With a little care it comes back out every June, for years.
Two broad straps run across the foot, each with its own buckle, so a narrow foot and a wider one both find their setting. Open at the toe and heel, it lets the air through on warm afternoons in town or by the lake. The easy summer pair you reach for, for years.
